Welcome to Casa Di Mister John

Coupled with breath-taking scenery and exquisite interiors, this medieval accommodation offers a truly unforgettable experience

This stunning medieval accommodation was thoughtfully restored by my uncle, John Riley. When he first purchased it, it was nothing more than a dilapidated ruin. However, through his tireless effort, dedication, and remarkable attention to detail, he has transformed it over the course of 20 years into a true masterpiece. Now, fully restored and brimming with character, we are confident you’ll agree it is nothing short of beautiful...thankyou to Ais for wonderful photographs!

Nestled in the heart of the countryside, Vico Pancellorum is a charming village of just a few hundred residents, both Italian and international. The community is warm, welcoming, and creatively spirited, making it a truly special place to visit.

Casa di Mister John's 5*****reviews

Possibly the most beautiful Airbnb we've ever stayed in - we barely left, both the interiors and views were too enchanting. The restaurant in the village is also incredible. Had a wonderful time!  Imo

We loved this place so much. We got engaged during our stay because it swept us away and will be in our hearts for ever. S

Is unique place with great recommendations for activities and restaurants 5 * stars well worth it!  Anne

We were attracted to Casa di Mister John by the views, the quirky décor and the mountain location…and this place met all our expectations. Sally was super responsive and helpful, the locals were lovely and friendly, and the walks in and around the village and the other local towns surprised us by their beauty.  Scott

Truly unique experience staying in an authentic Italian home up in the mountains. Absolutely beautiful views. Lots of attention to detail Very quiet and peaceful.  Nikita

This was the first time we've returned somewhere for a second holiday - that should give you a sense of just how special Sally's place is. It starts with the most incredible, picturesque surroundings and continues into the house itself, which feels like stepping into someone else's life. Sally herself is a wonderful host and couldn't have been more helpful in talking us through the heating or diagnosing our silly mistake with the oven. From the comfy bed to the well-appointed kitchen to the heart-stopping views from the terrace, you may not want to leave! But if you do, there's so much to do nearby - we loved walks up to the Foce delle Porchette and Monte Croce in the west or Monte Giovo in the east. Lucca is absolutely worth a day out - check out the ruins beneath Chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Reparata. The local restaurant is a must. And try to make time for a gelato at Fuori dal Centro in Bagni di Lucca! Christine

The house is a feast for the eyes and it’s in an absolutely stunning unique location. Will definitely be back!  Jeanne

My selfish side didn't even want to review this place. Why? Well.. I want to keep this gem to myself. Just amazing.  Sophia

The house of Mr John is a well organised little home in the middle of a medieval time with breath taking views of the surrounding mountains and old village through each window or balcony. The interior consists of very carefully chosen pieces of antique & brocante decoration and furniture. The bathroom & kitchen are very functional and in good condition. it's just a magic place in the mountains !!  Sophie

Really hit the spot. Amazing location. I loved the view of the mountains at all times of the day. Really special place. 5* Brenden

You’ll never stay anywhere else like this. It’s hard to put the house, the view, and the village of Vico into words — just too magical! But we were there for a month and never got bored of drinking coffee overlooking the mountains, watching the swallows fly by, wandering through the little cobbled streets, and admiring John’s decor & painting collection. Vico itself is small and quiet, making it a great place to switch off, but it’s drivable to plenty of towns and cities too (Lucca, Barga and Florence were our favourites). And Sally was such a kind and attentive host — greeting us with a log fire and bottle of bubbly, sorting us dinner reservations, and generally always being on hand for anything we needed. We hope to be back soon!  Max

This is one of the most stunning properties I have ever stayed. I would highly recommend it!  Kate

Charming house of great character in remote village perched on top of the hillside with spectacular views. Steep access from the parking, however worth every bit of effort. Would have liked to stay longer!  Edward
